If you are resident of Canada and have purchased third party protection plans for your iOS device be it iPhone, iPad or Apple watch there is a good news. You can now now access service and support directly from Apple, with equivalent coverage as AppleCare+ customers. This means if a customer purchases a protection plan for his or her iPhone from a carrier like Bell or Rogers, or any other you can now book an appointment with an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider in Canada and receive the same services as AppleCare+, including up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage. Apple advises technicians to service customers with an eligible third-party protection plan “in the same manner you do today for AppleCare+” and to “address their issue in the same great way you take care of all their customers.”
According to Apple, Theft, loss, and any accidental damage incidents after the first two will remain handled by carriers and their insurance providers. AppleCare services for third-party protection plans in Canada are supported by Brightstar.
Apple Care Plus
Most Apple hardware comes with a one-year limited warranty and up to 90 days of complimentary telephone technical support. To extend your coverage further, purchase the AppleCare Protection Plan or AppleCare+. AppleCare products give you one-stop service and support from Apple experts, so most issues can be resolved in a single call.
This covers technical support, Apple hardware and software support. Both AppleCare+ and AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss extend that coverage1up to two years and give you additional features such as 24/7 tech support and accidental damage coverage.
- AppleCare+ for iPhone includes up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage, each subject to the service fees, plus applicable tax. In addition, you’ll get Express Replacement Service and 24/7 priority access to Apple experts by chat or phone.
- For screen damage you need to pay $29 and for any other accident damage $99.

For hardware support both AppleCare+ options provide repair or replacement hardware service for your iPhone and include up to two incidents of accidental damage, theft, or loss depending on the plan you choose. Each incident is subject to a service fee or deductible. This covers your Battery, earphones and accessories.
For software support with either AppleCare+ option, Apple experts can help troubleshoot issues with your iPhone, iOS, iCloud, and Apple-branded apps, includes using iOS and iCloud, questions about Apple-branded iPhone apps such as FaceTime, Mail, and Calendar and connecting to wireless networks.
You can purchase either AppleCare+ product with your new iPhone or buy it within 60 days of your iPhone purchase. If you do online it requires you to verify your serial number and run a remote diagnostic. At an Apple Store it covers inspection of iPhone and proof of purchase are required.

AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss coverage requires you to have Find My iPhone enabled on your device at the time it is lost or stolen.
