Capture is a new free app available at the iTunes store for iPhone to capture your world in 3D dimensions.  What you can do is scan any picture of yours from your iPhone and make it into a 3D photo.  You can do 3D scanning anything or anyone with Capture, which is the fastest and most accurate iPhone scanning app and when you are done you can then share them with friends, or save and download them in any file format.

Developed by Jeff Huber and Garrett Spiegel for Standard Cyborg, Capture is a new proof of concept app that lets users create 3D models using the iPhone X’s front camera and laser scanning system, which can then be viewed inside the iPhone app or in an AR setting

To use this Capture app you need to have the TrueDepth camera, and it is only available on the iPhone X, Xs, Xr, or Xs Max.

You can do scanning, sharing and saving of your pictures. All you need is to take a scan of a static object just like you take a panorama photo. Then preview your scan in a model environment or place it in Augmented Reality
You can then send your scan to a friend via iMessage, Slack, WhatsApp, and more. All iPhones will be able to view the scan and place it in Augmented Reality, even if the model does not have a TrueDepth camera

To save your work you need to sign up for a free account to save and view your scans to platform.standardcyborg.com. From there, you can download the files as .obj or .stl meshes, or download them originally. Also, 3D models created by Capture can also be exported into a USDZ file for use in other applications. According to the app’s developers, who have worked in a number of high-profile vision startups and have raised $2.4 million in funding, the app is actually “a Trojan horse for the company’s other applications” including a programming framework for 3D scanning.

According to Huber“Standard Cyborg is building the API for the physical world making it easy for developers to build 3D scanning, analysis, and design into their applications

They are deploying 3D dense reconstruction and point cloud deep learning on mobile devices and package up this core technology for developers, abstracting away all the math and GPU acceleration, and giving them superpowers in just 3 lines of code.

The Capture app is a showcase of their technology that makes it easy for anyone with a FaceID-enabled iPhone to play with the technology and share scans with their friends.
